岡本 恵昭 Keisho Okamoto
1938年沖縄県宮古島生まれ。島内唯一の禅寺・龍寳山祥雲寺住職。花園大学禅哲学科を卒業後、現職に従事しながら宮古島狩俣集落を中心に民俗祭祀の調査研究を行う。平良市（現宮古島市）文化財保護委員、博物館協議委員を歴任し、宮古島の歴史・民俗学の記録編集に尽力している。著書に「宮古島の信仰と祭祀」（第一書房）。2019年には、孫であるアーティストの新城大地郎が監修を務めた自身の写真展「KEISHO MYAHK 196X」を開催した。

KEISHO OKAMOTO
Born in 1938 in Miyakojima, Okinawa. Keisho Okamoto is the abbot of Ryuhozan Shounji, the only Zen temple on the island. After graduating from the Zen philosophy department of Hanazono University in Kyoto, he has conducted research on folk rituals in the Karimata community in Miyakojima, while working in his current position. He has served as a member of the Hirara City (now Miyakojima City) Committee for the Protection of Cultural Properties and the Museum Council and devoted himself to editing records on the history and folklore of Miyako Island. He is the author of “Faith and Rituals of Miyakojima” (Daiichi Shobo, 2011). In 2019, he held his own photo exhibition “KEISHO MYAHK 196X” supervised by his grandson, artist Daichiro Shinjo.
