2023年より頻繁に宮古島を訪れ作品制作を続けているRyu Ika。自然、風土、人間、生物全てに魅了され、宮古島の大地が持つエネルギーを最大限に表現に落とし込んだ彼女の展示に是非ご期待ください。

PALI GALLERY AIR ( アーティストインレジデンスプログラム ) に参加した Ryu Ika は、2023 年に初めて宮古島を訪れました。 改めて長期に渡り訪れたこの島で、作家の故郷である内モンゴルと宮古島の脈打つ生命力に繋がりを感じ、魅了されていきます。 島に生きる人間の生々しい喜びと悲しみという両極端な感情に揺らされ過ごした日々に、 死から生、または循環し続ける命の輪に自分という存在を再認識できたと話します。展覧会では作家が宮古島滞在中に制作した写真作品で空間全体を覆います。地続きの広大な大陸の中でも、特殊な地域にルーツを持つ作家の視座から、孤島である宮古島はどうのように映り、 どこに繋がりを見つけたのかー。強烈な写真から派生する、作家独自の表現方法による作品をご覧いただける機会です。

PALI GALLERY is pleased to present an exhibition by Ryu Ika, a photographic artist from Inner Mongolia. Ryu Ika, who participated in the PALI GALLERY AIR (Artist in Residence Program), visited Miyakojima for the first time in 2023. Returning to the island for a third, longer term, the

artist developed a fascination with the pulsing vitality that connects Miyako Island to her hometown in Inner Mongolia. During the days she spent in Miyako, Ryu was able to experience the extreme joys and sorrows of life on the island, reaffirming her own existence by being a witness to the eternal cycle of life.

The exhibition will fill the entire space with a series of photographic works created by the artist during her stay on Miyako island. From the perspective of an artist whose roots lie in a unique region of a vast, interconnected continent, the exhibition explores Ryu’s perception of the isolated

island of Miyako, and the connections that she discovered. This is an opportunity to experience works that reflect the artist's unique method of expression, derived from powerful photography.
